Comprehensive brand identity – including logotype, stationary, menu layouts, staff apparel, food packaging, signage, identity standards and website for Boqueria, New York City’s acclaimed tapas bar and restaurant.
Inspired by the bold populist graphics of the Second Spanish Republic of the 1930’s, Boqueria’s identity combines a solid modern aesthetic with a no-nonsense authenticity. The logotype consists of a custom-drawn display font, which appears “sideways” (rotated 90 degrees counter-clockwise), thus creating a distinctive and highly memorable brandprint.
The dual colour scheme echoes much of the interior palette: Orange-yellow and dark brown are used for all non-print applications, whereas all printed materials consist of dark brown on uncoated off-white paper. In-house food packaging consists of custom-labeled geometric glass bottles and jars with cork and metal closures. Boqueria’s brand identity was designed to be fully scalable and was successfully extended to all its locations until it was redesigned in 2016.
